About Us – Shiv Shakti Mandir, La-Laura St. Pierre

Shiv Shakti Mandir, located in the peaceful village of La-Laura, St. Pierre, is a registered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Mandir serves as a spiritual, cultural, and educational center for the Hindu community of the region.

Our History

The foundation of Shiv Shakti Mandir was laid in the early 1980s by a small group of devoted families from La-Laura who wished to create a sacred space for daily prayers and traditional worship. What began as a simple thatched shrine gradually evolved into a permanent temple structure through the selfless efforts, donations, and devotion of local residents.

With growing community support and participation, the temple activities expanded to include regular bhajans, satsangs, and annual religious celebrations such as Maha Shivaratri, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Deepavali.

To strengthen its role as a formal religious institution, Shiv Shakti Mandir was officially registered in the year 2000 with the relevant Mauritian authorities. Since then, it has been managed by an elected committee, ensuring transparent and community-based governance.
